How to Gold Leaf Cups

Hello everyone, I just realized that I didn’t write any post for the past month. Wow, time really flies. I’m tackling few projects at a time and of course, none of them is completely done, so if you follow me my Instagram, you’ll know what I’m talking about. I’m almost done with my closet and pantry and hopefully, the reveal should be soon.  So I thought to write about an easy DIY project that I did it 4 years ago: How to apply gold leaf on glass cups.

I got the idea after I bought these salad plates from Z gallerie. When I checked these plates out I noticed that the gold color is just gold leaves applied to the back of the plate. So I thought okay I’ll do the same with my glasses and so I did.

I applied the gold leaf exactly like I did here, the only difference is in the top coat/sealer. I used this time Polycrylic from Minwax click here.  When I applied the sealer, I made sure to be really careful and just go over the gold leaf, not the clear glass part. And in case of any accident with the polycrylic,  I  just clean it with water.

This set up was 4 years ago,  and the glasses till date are still like brand new 😉

I made sure to always hand wash these cups, never put them in the dishwasher.

This was my last Christmas set up, you can check out here, the full post.
