– Upgarding a bookcase

I got this bookcase from IKEA long time ago ( when I used to like IKEA style) so after a while, I started getting bored with it.

So after seeing a lot of bookcase with wallpaper added to the back on BlogLand , I decided to do the same, so I bought these vinyl paper from Homegoods and it was a very easy task with the help of my husband. Just remove the back of the bookcase and stick the vinyl and VOILA. Best decision ever

Bye Bye IKEA, AGAIN

Silver accents were always my favorite. My love for gold finished pieces was minimal until my sister and I went on a furniture shopping tour back in Lebanon. After pointing out some elements of the furniture, my sister’s passion for gold became contagious. I came back to the US and the first thing that I wanted to do was transform my house into a golden palace ( well at least one room, the living room). Let it shine, I said.

So I thought that I have to get rid of those cheap looking IKEA black metal tables. First I painted them, added 2 custom mirrors.

So now I have in the living room Gold and Silver accents and I love this combination, what about you? Do you like just one finish?Which one do you prefer?Or you are like me a mix and match girl?

– Bye Bye IKEA Hello Macy’s

Don’t you just love Nailhead trimmed furniture ????

Last year the husband and I went shopping for a sofa. I fell in love with the blue Loveseat at Macy’s called ” Jaqueline Loveseat ” especially the nail head trim but my husband didn’t like it at all, so I had to search for another alternative 🙁

We ended up buying an off-white loveseat at IKEA, and I added some blue throw pillows and accents pieces to have this hint of blue in the room.

This was a year ago, but I kept on thinking about the Jacqueline Loveseat, so Yesterday I had an idea how to make this IKEA a Macys:

I bought Upholstery Nails at Home Depot (5 boxes) for $1.30 each.

This is the before:

How to apply the Nails was so easy, since I didn’t have the proper tools: the mallets and needle nose pliers, I used what I had in hand: Hammer and Scissors.
I hold the Nails in place with the scissors ( instead of the needle nose pliers) and then pound them gently with the hammers ( instead of the mallets). To have an equal spacing between each nail I had to use a spoon handle ( check out the below picture)

So finally I got to say BYE BYE IKEA HELLO KITTY..hmm I mean HELLO MACY’S
